Synopsis of Episode 40:
Man oh man, what a great show this weeks gonna be! Off the top we visit with a remarkable young fly fisherman- 15 year old Noah Thompson of Austin, TX. Noah recently represented his country at the Youth World Fly Fishing Championships in Slovakia. He had a tremendous showing for Team USA earning the Bronze Medal in the individual competition. As a fly fishing newbie myself- I am sure I can learn a lot from this seasoned fisherman.
Then we will have our first ever Texas Country Music Artist in Studio as Commerce, Texas native Justin Bowerman stops in to talk huntin’ and play a couple songs for us. With track titles like: “Deer Meat”, “In The Duck Blind” and “Black Mouth Cur”- it’s easy to see why Justin’s music speaks to me and I know you are gonna enjoy as well.
And last but not least we will visit with #69 himself. Yep, Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl Defensive End Jared Allen is set to join the show. Jared truly lives an outdoor lifestyle and enjoys huntin and fishin’ for everything under the sun. Wolves, bears, whitetail, pheasant- he’s even killed a bull elk with a spear ( as you may have seen on Youtube).
Anyway, Jared’s 1-3 Vikings take on our 1-3 Cowboys on Sunday so we may even talk a little pigskin. Sorry Jared, can’t be pulling for ya this weekend. Should be a great interview to cap off an awesome week!
Synopsis of Episode 39:
This is going to be a great show as Texas Governor Rick Perry drops in to talk about his passion for the outdoors. Bow or rifle? Favorite place in Texas to hunt? What can we do to make fishing safe again on Lake Falcon? All that and a whole lot more with the Governor.
Then we will visit with Marko Barrett of the Las Raices Ranch. Marko oversees the management of the 4,100 acre ranch and his father Mark is the lucky man who just shot a 300 inch native deer on the property. This deer, nicknamed “Mini” will likely break the Texas record for any deer that hasn’t been genetically altered in any way. We’ll find out about Las Raices’ management philosophy, the history behind “Mini”, how hard did they have to hunt him and everything else concerning this record buck!
Mark Barrett with the potential All-Time Highest Scoring Native Texas Whitetail- “Mini”.
Also, don’t forget that next week we will visit with a very special young Texan- Noah Thompson– of Austin. Noah recently competed at the Youth World Fly Fishing Championships in Slovakia and earned the Bronze Medal!
Howdy ya’ll. Just got back from a week’s worth of fly fishing and grouse hunting in New Mexico. Was lucky enough to harvest some grouse and catch some trout in the Red River. Was my first time to do both! Put together a little 5 minute Youtube video that I thought ya’ll might enjoy. Just click the link to watch.
