With kick thing off by heading north to the duck factory as Ducks Unlimited’s Prairie Pothole Region Director Steve Adair PhD and DU Canada’s Prairie Region Director Scott Stephens PhD drop in. We discuss nesting conditions in each of their respective regions, the two most vital waterfowl production areas in North America. Scott also explains how Canada generates funding for waterfowl conservation without the amount of hunters (Federal Duck Stamp dollars) that the U.S. has.

Then we shift our focus to British Columbia as longtime outfitter Mike Hawkridge of Big Country Outfitters drops in. Mike discusses the struggle for rural B.C. outdoorsmen and women when an urban (and predominantly non hunting) Vancouver population essentially controls what happens in wilderness areas they likely will never even see. Right now, outfitters and resident hunters alike face the possibility of a province wide grizzly bear hunting ban. Mike and I dive into what happens when emotions rule out over sound, science based wildlife management.

Next we are joined by Elite Archery and Slick Trick Broadhead’s Larry McCoy. You probably seen him on ‘Respect the Game’ which airs on Sportsman’s Channel. Larry breaks down his choice for arrow/broadhead combos based on draw weight/lenght. We also discuss the all new Elite Tempo bow and some great new broadheads from Slick Trick like the mechanical Raptor Trick and the new small game Rip Trick heads. Larry with a bruiser of a buck he connected on in Iowa.
