It was about a decade ago when I first met Tyler Toney and the Dude Perfect crew. I went to their old office (if you can call an adult playground for grown men such a thing) to record a podcast after finding out the Youtube trick shot specialists were also sportsmen. As I was getting the tour, we came across their soccer field. I casually mentioned I played soccer and they invited me to come “guest play” on their Monday night men’s league squad. After one game, I was officially added to the roster and ended up playing with Tyler and Garret Hilbert for a few years until the Covid -19 pandemic shut the world down. Post soccer careers, we’ve kept up with each other mostly through our shared passion for hunting, oh and with 3 kids right in their target demographic, I see Dude Perfect videos playing on our living room TV quite regularly.
I’ve always admired that they will post hunting content on their personal pages despite a 61 million subscriber Youtube channel where most of their audience undoubtedly doesn’t hunt. But they took it a step further in late 2025 when they launched Dude Perfect Outdoors, a new page dedicated to sharing their passion for hunting and fishing. So, a decade later we ran the podcast back. This time with a new office and 70 plus employees working at Dude Perfect. As much as things have changed, Ty and Garrett remain steadfast in their love for hunting, family and God. It also happened to be MLK Day when we got together and Henry was out of school. So, naturally, I told him he was coming with me and handed him a microphone. What 13-year-old kid wouldn’t want to be on podcast with Dude Perfect, LOL!
We discuss Ty’s vision for this page and some of the upcoming outdoor adventures they have planned. Some of the highlights from the conversation include:
- Favorite sports memories
- Was there ever any hesitation about posting hunting content on their own personal social media pages?
- Any negativity or fallout from sharing their love for hunting?
- What was their first African safari like and when are they going back?
- Cape buffalo with a bow
- Moose hunting in Alaska
- Getting their kids into hunting
- Do their wives like wild game?
- Duck dogs
- Using DP Outdoors to explain to the non-hunter how hunting is indeed conservation
- Bucket list hunts
- Archery elk
- Will they post predator hunting on DP Outdoors?
- Favorite Bible verses and what they are reading right now
