Over the years, we’ve had the racks of some giant North Texas archery bucks in the studio. That trend continues on this episode when Grayson County whitetail hunter Ryan Bergman joins us. The 196 4/8 inch (gross) monster he watched for 4 seasons finally presented an opportunity in late November and Ryan’s bolt found its mark. Highlights from the conversation include:
- Hunting giant bucks on 15 acres
- Location is key
- A little luck goes a long way
- Why did he switch over to a crossbow?
- A couple that got away
- His buck was shot as a 140’s class last year and blew up this year with a terrible limp (seems very odd)
- 4 years of history
- A neighbor’s missed opportunity
- Other giant bucks in the area
- Texas Parks and Wildlife grades
- Grayson County – the OG of Texas archery only counties
- Upcoming African safari
