This one is all ducks all the time with Ducks Unlimited’s Senior Waterfowl Scientist Mike Brasher. What do the changing trends in some of the most common puddle duck species mean? How do scientists interpret a large year to year increase or decrease in the population of a particular species? Why is the hardiest and most common puddle duck species struggling? We also discuss canvasbacks, scaup and even ruddy ducks during the conversation.
Then we get into what Mike knows about sea ducks as I get ready for my first ever sea duck hunt. Keep in mind that Ducks Unlimited doesn’t specialize in these species but Mike certainly knows more about them than most of us. We mix in some recipe discussion and wrap things up with an interesting research project that duck hunters have the opportunity to participate in this fall.
