Our old friend Linda Powell of Mossberg Firearms makes her return to the show this week. Perfect timing as well seeing that her two favorite hunting seasons are rapidly approaching in the form of spring turkey and black bear. We discuss the recent trend of turkey hunters switching from the classic 12 gauge to smaller bore shotguns like .410s and 28 gauges and the technological advancements in TSS shot shells that have led to this phenomenon.

We’ll hear about her spring turkey plans that include heading to Florida as well an upcoming black bear hunt in Canada. Then we revisit one of my favorite of Linda’s hunting tales when she talks about her Russian brown bear hunt. Bland food and socked in during a blizzard, the Russians somehow never ran out of their precious vodka. We then get the latest from Mossberg which includes the first factory double stacked magazines designed specifically for the shotgun enthusiast.

Next, we take a listen to a segment from a recent Campfire Conversation with big game hunter, lobbyist and former Department of the Interior employee Todd Wynn. I figured some of you might have heard it already, but for anyone that missed, I feel it’s important enough to re-air. Todd gives us his thoughts on recent federal layoffs and more importantly the Trump Administration’s commitment to extract resources from Federal Land and what that means for conservation and wildlife going forward.
