Todd Wynn has lived a pretty fascinating life. He currently works as a lobbyist in Arizona, but previously served under Secretary of Interior Zinke during Trump’s first term. We discuss that experience and get Todd’s take on how Trump’s current administration will go forward with energy exploration on some of our public land. A passionate hunter and conservationist, Todd’s focus is in the energy sector and he explains that tapping into some of our remote energy reserves doesn’t mean it’s a death knell for the wildlife that exists in those places.
We then mix in a little fishing talk before spending a good chunk of time on Todd’s latest passion: hunting with an ancient atlatl spear. A technique he found out was illegal in Arizona so he decided to spearhead the effort to get it legalized. This resulted in building relationships with politicians and the formation of the Arizona Atlatl Association. His effort did indeed result in the legalization of atlatl hunting for certain species. Has he been able to successfully take anything with his atlatl yet?
