When National Rifle Association Board of Directors Jeff Knox reached out about possibly coming on the show, I was a bit skeptical. Not only because of the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre caused PR nightmare of the past few years, but also because of a personal experience with the NRA that left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. It’s not something I’ve ever shared publicly before, and I agreed to visit with Jeff once he assured me that NRA’s old leadership guard had been wiped away completely.

The Knox family has a rich legacy in the firearm industry with both Jeff and his dad making a living in the gun business. Their family history with the NRA also goes back over 50 years. His father served on the Board of Directors and was in line to become president before Charlton Heston was installed in the position back in 1998. Jeff explains throughout the conversation that he and his father have always tried to serve as watchdogs over the direction of the NRA.

We leave nothing uncovered as we dive into former CEO Wayne LaPierre’s corruption that not only cost the NRA millions of members, but also nearly bankrupted the organization. Jeff explains how the new leadership has cleaned house and installed new bylaws that prevent something similar from ever happening again. Was I pissed at the NRA? Absolutely, for multiple reasons. Do I believe we are stronger as a gun owning community with a healthy NRA? 100 percent yes, I do. I found this one of my favorite discussions of 2025. Hope you enjoy it.
