Assistant Commander Stormy King of our TPWD Game Warden Division joins us on this episode of Campfire Conversations. We discuss the implications of SB 1236 and it’s potential impact on the hunting community and our Game Wardens as far as enforcing it. The one thing that neither of us seem to understand is how it was passed without any opposition.

If you’re unaware of SB 1236 it’s a statewide law that goes into effect September 1st 2023. The law prohibits hunters from firing rifles, bows or shotguns with slugs in any navigable waterway or it’s river bed. This is literally thousands upon thousands of miles of what was public hunting opportunity for big game, now closed to the public. But why? It makes no sense and reeks of wealthy land owners lobbying a few politicians who don’t give a crap about the general hunting public.
