How was your 2021-2022 waterfowl season? Did the ducks show up for your crew? DU’s head waterfowl scientist Dr. Mike Brasher makes his return to the show on this episode of Campfire Conversations. We take a look at Ducks Unlimited’s recently published Season in Review as well as the relatively new Mid Winter Surveys. Mike explains why it’s hard to grasp recent waterfowl trends due to the Federal Waterfowl Survey being cancelled due to covid in 2020 and 2021.

I also grill him on short stopping ducks and what (or if) impact it’s having on hunters at the tail end of the Central and Mississippi Flyways. Plus we look at nesting conditions across the landscape and what it means for pintails specifically.
